Optimism bias

« Back to Glossary Index

Optimism bias is the tendency to overestimate positive outcomes when project planning (e.g. completing on time and within budget) and underestimate potential risks and challenges. This can lead to unrealistic schedules, budgets, and resource allocation, as well as a lack of contingency planning for potential setbacks.
